Walhalla

The township of Walhalla is situated in the Gippsland hills, on the C461 road up towards the Thomson River dam and Mount Baw Baw. Named for Valhalla (the resting place of Nordic Gods), this settlement has remained muchly unchanged since its heyday as a gold and coal mining mecca. However, despite a huge remnant mine in the heart of town, the vista of this heritage village nestled in a beautiful valley is certainly a sight to relish. It is just unfortunate that our candid spotting of the ultrarare lyrebird/ peacock hybrid bird was left undocumented. Alas, you may enjoy these pleasure snaps from this picturesque destination for old biddies and celebrity alike: Yes, it is true that Patrick Swayze spent a considerable portion of his youth here.
